Statement:
Stefan’s practice explores the relationship between identity, queer embodiment and spirituality, drawing on Wiccan witchcraft and queer expression. His work examines the idiosyncrasies that shape the self, considering how these themes intersect and inform one another through research, lived experience and reflection. Working across mixed media, materials and performance, Stefan creates embodied forms that give voice to spoken and unspoken narratives, offering moments of solace, release, and resonance. Spirituality functions as a conduit for storytelling and self-expression. His current body of work investigates transformation and identity within ritualistic queer contexts. Using Wiccan-inspired gestures and symbolism, the floor becomes a ritual space where the bell, salt, and bowl operate as tools of initiation, purification and offering. Repetition positions the body as a vessel for renewal, change and becoming ongoing.
