Jennifer Ivana Sanjaya is an Indonesian artist who is currently studying at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, in the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Fine Art programme. Jennifer enjoys creating illustrations and drawings, and has participated in art contests during her studentship. She has also engaged in digital illustrations and graphic design commissions for a company's branding.Jennifer Ivana Sanjaya works primarily with mixed media, such as oil paint, Chinese ink, and installations, followed by digital art, watercolor, and gouache for her practices. Her work is highly inspired by meditation that derived from her religion, along with other themes such as the human condition of the world today and mental health problems that occur in the current time. She was also inspired by a non-existent fantasy world that depicts the ideal world she wanted to be in, a place that escapes from reality, a breathtaking journey that captures the aesthetics of the world itself.

Statement:
Jennifer's research explores light as both material and immaterial, focusing on how light always finds a way through and how beauty emerges in the interplay of light and shadow. Inspired by komorebi, a Japanese term describing the natural phenomenon of sunlight filtering through trees and leaves, this research highlights how acts of observing and noticing create moments of pause, encouraging a slowing down and an emphasis on the present moment. It also investigates meditative qualities through themes of impermanence and time, addressing the fleeting nature of experience and engaging with phenomenology as the study of subjective experience.
